UNESCO

Since its early beginnings, ISIC has been closely linked with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In 1968, UNESCO officially endorsed ISIC as the only internationally accepted proof of full-time student status, recognizing its role in promoting cultural exchange and international understanding. This partnership was renewed in 1993 with a Memorandum of Understanding that allowed the UNESCO logo to appear on every ISIC card, leading to joint initiatives such as preferential access to World Heritage sites and campaigns encouraging intercultural understanding.

UNWTO

Supported by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the ISIC Association was accepted as an UNWTO Affiliate Member in August 2013. This recognition strengthens the official profile of the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) within the global travel and tourism industry, highlighting its role as the only internationally accepted student ID that provides young travelers with access to cultural exchange, educational opportunities and thousands of student travel benefits worldwide.
